Did you know that Newberry is employee-owned?
Newberry is among a small minority of employee-owned companies. However, Newberry is extremely rare due to the fact that no financial investment is required on the part of our employees to obtain the benefits of ownership. Our company stock is not purchased, but instead is equitably allocated to our employees and is managed through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP).
Newberry’s Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) is part of our total retirement package, in addition to our 401K. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) recognizes the ESOP as a legal qualified plan or a defined contribution employee benefit plan. Shares are deposited into employee accounts based on a prescribed formula applied to all employees equally and share value is determined by an annual independent evaluation.
